Pose Your Character
Pose your character
The default pose of the MakeHuman™ model is a standard T-pose. Nevertheless, if you would like to choose a different pose for your model, MakeHuman™ has a library of static poses from which you can choose one that you like. Users are constantly encouraged to contribute to this library and add a variety of poses. In MakeHuman™, it is possible to choose a different pose for your model by simply going to its poses within the Pose/Aminate Tab group and clicking on the thumbnail of a pose. The pose will be loaded onto the model automatically.
To pose your model press the tabs Pose/Animate > Poses.
Pressing the tabs Pose/Animate > Poses will open the Poses window that has a Sort box at the left and, at the center of the screen, a gallery of thumbnails displaying poses. Click (or double-click) on the thumbnail of the pose that you wish for your model. Now your character will have this pose automatically. The MakeHuman window will automatically change to the Macro window in the Modelling mode and you will be able to see how your character looks in this pose.
At the moment, under the Pose/Animate > Poses tab there are static poses ranging from dancing and walking to running.
The Sort box has several radio button options that, when selected, order the thumbnails of poses in a specific way. You can choose an ordering option by clicking on the grayed radio button at the left side of the desired option and then pressing the Refresh button at the top of the box to make sure that the list is reordered. As you click on the grayed button, the button will become orange, indicating the current sorting option. To update the gallery of poses with new ones added by other users or developers, press the "Check for updates" button at the bottom of the Sort box and then the Refresh button at the top of the box.
There are several sorting options (see figure above), namely:
"by name" (orders the thumbnails in alphabetical order of the thumbnail's name);
"by created" (orders the thumbnails in chronologically ascending order of the date when they were created);
"by modified" (orders the thumbnails in chronologically ascending order of the date when they were modified);
"by size" (orders the thumbnails in ascending order of the thumbnail's file size).
You can browse the gallery of thumbnails by positioning your mouse button above the images and scrolling the middle mouse button. Alternatively, you can left-click (for Windows and Linux) on the orange side bar at the right of the poses' thumbnails and scroll it down or up while holding the button pressed.
Changing or removing the pose selected for your model
You can change an assigned pose with another one by clicking on another thumbnail. For example, you can change the pose "run" of your model by clicking on the pose "walking" from the gallery of thumbnails. Note that doing this will not combine the two poses.
If you do not like how your model looks in a chosen pose and want to return to the previous state of your model, you can press the Undo button at the top left of the screen. In case you want to return to the original state of the model prior to selecting any poses, just find the thumbnail named "clear" from the gallery of poses and click on it. Your model will now have the state that it had before selecting any poses for it (that is the default T-shaped pose).
